Doctoral studies at the Department of Social Theology and Religious
Studies lead to the award of a Doctoral Diploma (PhD). They centre
on an original doctoral dissertation that contributes to knowledge
in an academic field related to the Department.
Research and Supervision
Doctoral candidates work with a supervisor and a three-member
Advisory Committee. Their research involves systematic scholarly
work, regular academic guidance and annual progress reporting.
The completed dissertation is assessed by a seven-member
Examination Committee.
Applying for Doctoral Studies
Prospective applicants should identify a research topic connected
with the Department’s academic fields and a proposed supervisor.
Consult the official Doctoral Studies Regulation and current
Department announcements for eligibility, supporting documents
and submission arrangements.
Applications are submitted through the NKUA Electronic Protocol
service. Select Application 13, “Application for Candidacy for
a Doctoral Dissertation”, and include the required documents.
